Helping the River: Join fun, hands-on projects like planting trees, clearing trails, removing invasive plants, cleaning up the river and fixing riverbanks to keep the Mad River healthy for trout and other wildlife.

Fun Events: Take part in chapter events like the Mad River Gala, film festivals, social events and community get-togethers.

Learning about the River: Help with activities like macroinvertebrate sampling to learn more about the health of the river and what trout eat.

Improving Your Fishing Skills: Learn and get better at fly fishing through workshops and other programs.

Fishing Regulations

Find the Latest Regulations Here.  On Page 11 it indicates if you are going to keep trout on the Mad River and its tributaries, there is a daily limit of two (2) and a minimum size limit of twelve (12) inches.

Catch and Release

Practicing catch and release allows you and others to enjoy the thrill of catching them again and again. Your children and grandchildren will thank you.

If you plan to release the fish let’s give them the best chance at survival!

Minimize Air Exposure:  10 seconds or less.

Eliminate contact with dry surfaces: If you do need to take the fish out of the water and touch it, please wet your hands first.

Reduce Handling Time:

Use barbless hooks

Consider using artificial bait

Use rubber nets

Carry a hook removal tool

Limit the fight time

Hold the fish carefully
