This is a call out for any TU members in the Columbus area who tie flies!

What: Tying Flies for The Mayfly Project – Columbus Mentees

When: August 15, 2024 | 6:00PM – 9:00PM

Where: Nocterra Brewing Co. – Audubon

Address: 516 Maier Pl, Columbus, OH 43215

The fifth and final 2024 outing for The Mayfly Project-Columbus is on August 17th.  At this outing, each of their 14 mentees will be outfitted with all of the necessary gear to pursue their interest in fly fishing. This will include a rod/reel outfit, a net and a sling pack filled with leaders, tippet, nippers, and forceps, etc.

The kids also will be given fly boxes that need flies. So, on August 15, 2024, The Mayfly Project-Columbus mentors are inviting TU Mad River members to join them at the newly opened Nocterra Brewing Co. – Audubon to tie flies for the kiddos fly boxes.

This is a great location with lots of space to tie, great lighting and of course food and beverages.

They have the necessary materials to tie 28 hoppers if you’d like to help with those. You can also bring the necessary materials to tie any of your favorite patterns for trout, bass, bluegill, carp, or whatever you think these young fishers may fancy pursuing with a fly rod.

If you are able to attend please let fellow TU Mad River member and TMP co-lead mentor, Allan Zaenger, know  . His email is allan@pharmaceuticalhorizons.com.

Whether you’re an experienced angler or just love the outdoors, TU Mad River offers opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals, learn new skills, and give back to the waters you cherish. Together, we can keep our streams healthy, vibrant, and full of life.
