​Reel Recovery Seeking Participants

The Ohio Chapter of Reel Recovery is seeking participants for their retreat this June at the Rockwell Springs Trout Club near Clyde, Ohio. (https://www.rockwellspringstroutclub.com). Reel Recovery is a national program for men living with all forms of cancer. I’ve included a link from a Today Show segment to give you a feel for what the program does. 

 
This year’s retreat is scheduled for June 21-23. See this link (https://reelrecovery.org/programs/retreat-schedule/) for additional information. There are several openings available for participants. If you, your dad, your brother, an uncle, a buddy, etc. is battling cancer, then you and/or they would be eligible to attend. It’s at no cost to the participant. Whether you’ve fly fished before or not, each participant gets paired up with a “river buddy”. The task of a “buddy” is first to listen to and really hear the participant; then do everything to assist them, from teaching them how to fly fish (if necessary) to netting and releasing the trout. Whether as a participant or as a “buddy”, the days spent will be a rewarding experience for all.

It is first come, first served, so even if a prospective participant isn’t sure where he’ll be with his treatments, they should apply now. Reel Recovery understands that every year there may be a few cancellations due to treatment and/or health issues.
