TU Madmen Chapter 2020 Annual Meeting Announcement
To all TU Madmen members and friends of the Mad River –
Due to the inescapable news of the past few weeks, I’m guessing that most of you were expecting this and now we’re making it official. It is with deep regret and great disappointment that we are postponing the Mad River Gala until further notice. We feel there are no other good options; plus, it is the right thing to do.
We all must make some sacrifices and do our part to help mitigate the health crisis that is affecting nearly everyone on this planet. The risk of someone passing on the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, without even knowing they’re infected is just too great. We all have family and friends that are at greater risk of contracting a severe form of the disease because of age and/or ill health. Indeed many of us fall into that higher risk category.
At this time, we don’t know when the event will be re-scheduled. No one can predict when this crisis will be resolved. The Simon Kenton Inn empathizes with our situation and will try to be flexible with finding a new date. In the meantime, at your request, we will refund the cost of the tickets to you (minus the EventBrite fee if you purchased through them). Or, you may wish to just let us hold onto your money for now in the event that the Gala gets re-scheduled sooner rather than later. It’s entirely up to you. Please send an e-mail to Pam Allen at pamallen@tumadmen.org to let us know what you want us to do with your registration fee.
We will be working with TU national to determine what and when anything needs to be done with regard to our Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting is a requirement of TU national and our By-laws, but due to these highly unusual circumstances, we may be able to suspend that requirement or have our “meeting” online somehow. When we know more, we will let you know.
Once again, we are truly sorry that it came down to this and that this announcement is being made so close to the date of the Gala. If anyone has any questions or additional concerns, please feel free to reach out to me or other members of the Board.
Above all, be safe and take care of yourself and your loved ones. When this is all over, we want all of you to come celebrate with us.
Tight Lines Everybody,
Rick Hurni, President
